You are cordially invited to the next Hypotheses Symposium being held on March 18th at 4:00PM in the Salon des amis of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. The theme of the evening is “Reinventing Female Archetypes”.

Hypotheses is a monthly speaker series that generates discussions designed to highlight emerging research related to the disciplines of Art History and Museum Studies. It creates an opportunity for graduate students in Art History to share and discuss their ideas with a wider Montreal audience, one that extends beyond the university.

Our speakers will be Eliana Stratica Mihail (M.A. candidate, Concordia university) presenting a paper entitled “Mannequins and Wedding Dresses: The Commodification of Women through Marriage in 1970s Quebec Art”, and Sonya Ocampo-Gooding (M.A. candidate, Concordia University) presenting a paper entitled “The Inspirational Power of the Sheela-na-gig”. Audrey Laurin (PhD candidate, UQAM) will chair the session.

The evening will be followed by a reception where the conversation can continue in a more relaxed environment. Our sponsor Philippe Dandurand will offer the wine, and Hypotheses would also like to thank the Graduate Students Association of the University Concordia (AHGSA), for their special contribution to the evening.

Enclosed you will find the poster for the evening, providing you with details on the topics of the symposium as well as the schedule for the winter season.
