Mark Abley is a well-known Montreal poet and writer. His book Spoken Here: Travels Among Threatened Languages (2003) has been translated into French, Spanish and Japanese, and earned praise from reviewers in many countries. The Prodigal Tongue: Dispatches From the Future of English was published in 2008. He continues to write a regular column on language for the Gazette called “Watchwords.” The conference will take place at Concodria University, 1400, De Maisonneuve East, Room LB-612.
